Hank Hughes
Tennis Center Manager & Head Professional
Hank has an extensive background in teaching tennis as well as organizing and directing tournaments. He is a certified member at the highest levels in both the USPTA and the USPTR.
Hank came to the Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center after a 15-year career at Glen Creek Tennis Club where he was the Assistant Junior Development Coordinator and directed all adult programs.
He has coached numerous local, sectional and nationally ranked junior players. He was named the Pro of the Year by the United States Tennis Association – Allegheny Mountain Division. Hank has directed the largest indoor tennis tournament in the Middle States section for the past several years.
Jerry O'Hara
Jerry has been teaching tennis in the Pittsburgh area for 20 years. Prior to that time, he served on the Board of Directors and coordinated leagues, tournaments and clinics at the Don Mills Tennis Club in Toronto, Canada for eight years. Jerry is a certified member at the highest levels in both the USPTA and the USPTR.
Jerry assisted in the junior programs at the Glen Creek Tennis Club for eight years under the direction of Tennis Director and Head Pro, Mark Phillips. He has 15 years of experience at the Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center, specializing in clinics, private lessons and leagues for both adults and juniors.
Daryl Hall
Daryl was certified by the USPTA in 1983, and has been teaching tennis ever since. Daryl has worked with beginners, as well as nationally ranked players. He was the Tennis Director at Colonial Country Club for 12 years. During that time, he was also a Teaching Professional at Hershey Racquet Club in Central PA, where he aided in all programming, including the Mazda Jr. Tennis Program.
Daryl has also served as Tournament Director for sectional MSTA senior and junior tournaments. He has also coached the Mt. Lebanon High School Boys and the Girls’ Jr. Varsity Tennis teams Since joining the staff at the Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center in 1999, Daryl continues to enjoy teaching tennis, "the sport of a lifetime," to a wide variety of tennis players.
Joe McKennan
Joe has over 20 years of teaching experience, most of which has been at the Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center. He is a certified member of the USPTR. Joe has experience with youth and adult programs and has also coached the Canon-MacMillan High School girls’ team.
Joe also has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business from Grove City College. As a former avid racquetball player, Joe won two single championships before graduating and moving on to the “game of a lifetime.”
Ken Kohn
A native of the Philadelphia suburbs and a graduate of Penn State University, Ken is a certified member of the USPTR, has been a coach and instructor at the Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center since 2004.
While at Mt. Lebanon, Ken has had extensive experience with youth and adult programs. He developed and coordinates the outdoor coed league and has also developed a successful adult cardio tennis program.
Mark Pemu
Mark has completed the rigorous certification process to become a Professional Tennis Registry (PTR) Master of Tennis – Performance which is the organization’s highest certification. Less than 50 teaching professionals nationwide have achieved this designation.
Mark has been at the Mt. Lebanon Tennis Center for the past five years where he works with the most elite players in our programs.
Alex Parrish
Alex started playing tennis in Mt. Lebanon as a junior in the 1970s, and had his first job that didn’t involve shoveling snow or mowing lawns when he worked maintenance for the summer Clay Court Championships. He played two years of high school tennis at Mt. Lebanon, and then two years as #1 singles and doubles player and team captain at the Linsly School in Wheeling, West Virginia.
Alex has captained and played on many USTA teams, several of which have gone to sectionals. He has competed successfully in singles, doubles and mixed at USTA tournaments, achieving high Middle States and Allegheny Mountain rankings, and also served as a board member and Executive Vice President of the Allegheny Mountain District of the USTA.
In addition to teaching and coaching many players over the years, Alex is a certified PTR teaching professional and has taught advanced adults and juniors as well as beginners of all ages for the last five years.
Mike Schuster
Mike was the #1 varsity singles player at Mt. Lebanon High School and played competitively in juniors. He also managed Tennis Town, the leading tennis specialty store in Pittsburgh.
Mike teaches lessons and clinics for both juniors and adults, including a popular Sunday night doubles league. He also plays on one of the Mt. Lebanon D-1 paddle teams.
Mike is a member of the Mt Lebanon Indoor Tennis Board.
